This is my second school that I have attended. My first college was Three Rivers Community College located in Norwich, CT. There, I studied Restaurant and Hotel Hospitality for two semesters. In October of 2006, I relocated to Virginia Beach, VA and transferred to Tidewater Community College. Prior to registration, I decided that Hospitality wasn’t challenging me the way I wanted and decided to change my major to Science. Unfortunately, my transcripts from my previous school did not all transfer and my two mathematics and two English classes were denied and I was forced to retake all of them. This minor set back did not discourage me and I plan to graduate from Tidewater Community College with my Associate’s Degree in Science at the end of my Fall Semester of 2008. After I graduate, I plan to move to South Carolina with my husband (we will be married in August of 2008) and open my own restaurant. My restaurant will be a deli and sandwich shop. My work in a restaurant of the same type for over six years as a supervisor assures me that I can run this restaurant and be very successful.

On a more personal note, I am 20 years old. I lived in a small town in southeast Connecticut for the first nineteen years of my life, but always dreamed of leaving. I knew I had things to do and places to see. When I met my fiancee in August of 2006, his stepfather who was in the U.S. Navy was being re-stationed in Virginia Beach and his family was set to leave in October. To my surprise, he asked me to move with him and I accepted. I’ve enjoyed my time in Virginia Beach. It has really opened my eyes to the differences that are evident from place to place. There’s such a diverse variety here. In Connecticut I knew everybody, I had grown up with all of them since kindergarten. It’s nice to walk down the streets and not recognize one face. It’s a good feeling to start over.

I have two younger sisters. One is 13 and the other is 12. Since I’ve left, they’ve shown me how much of a role model I really am to them. I never saw it before because I was too involved in my own life to stop and realize. When you know there are two little girls watching your every move waiting to copy you in envy, it makes you stop and think about everything you do.

As I said, I am set to marry my fiancee in August of 2008. I am very excited. He’s my best friend and I couldn’t imagine marrying anybody else. We plan to honeymoon in Florida. I’ve always wanted to go back to Disney World as an adult. The first three times I’ve been were with my entire family...Grandmothers and Aunts. I think it will be very enjoyable to walk around the park with no agenda and let the magic of Disney take my husband and I where ever we please.

I don’t have many hobbies. School takes up so much of my times. I do love to write though. As a young girl, I loved to write songs. By the time I was twelve or so, I had quite the collection of at least 200 songs. I am sad to say that as my life has become more hectic my time and inspiration to write has dwindled. Every once in a while when I become inspired I like to sit down and write.
